Wonderland started as a voice memo on a night bus outside Nashville — one guitar figure and the line about running toward the lights instead of away from them. By the time the band got to the studio, it had grown into the opening statement of the debut album: neon-lit guitars, a choir-sized chorus, and a verse written like a letter to one person in a crowd of thousands.
The recording keeps the live energy on purpose. The drums are one full take, the gang vocal is the whole touring band around a single microphone, and the final chorus lifts a half-step the way festival crowds do when they sing it back. It is the song that opens every show on the Music Is My Language tour — and the reason the record is called Wonderland.
